College of Dramatic Arts bevarar traditioner, dansade in Kathin

'Fon leb' is an emblematic traditional dance of Lanna, northern Thailand. And this cultural day aims to preserve the rich traditions of the region. Coupled with a Buddhist ceremony, ทอดผ้าป่า (thot pha pa, which will be freely translated as "spread the clothes", here the monastic dress). It is a ritual similar to thotkathin but without time counterpart; unlike this one, it can be performed in any season.
On the agenda this Saturday, November 2nd, 2019:
- 8am: registration
- 9am: decoration of the area ผ้าป่า (pha pa), nowadays with money
- 9.30am: religious ceremony (with show)
- 10am: "fon leb" competition (the nail dance)
- 11.30am: meal
- 2.30pm: prize distribution
- 3pm: ทอดผ้าป่า ceremony (thot pha pa, i. e. the offering of monastic dresses to monks)
The day will be culturally animated with music and folklore shows by the school's students, as well as a market (yummy yummy).
And this is how the traditions of Lanna continue, a land that knows how to make itself loved by anyone who takes the time to apprehend it.
